Acne Treatment
Acne is a skin problem that occurs at some point in the lives of most of the people. The occurrence of acne is so common that it is not even referred to most of the time as a disease. But, acne is actually the skin disorder related to psilosebaceous units, and has many potential treatment methods. In the present era acne treatment has undergone many developments since many people have realised that acne treatment is a necessity to overcome the cosmetic blemishes that are caused by acne. Moreover, many people are mentally affected by the acne condition, which may affect their confidence, social outlook and may ultimately led to depression. Mild to moderate acne does not require much attention whereas inflammatory acne such as nodules and cysts may require intensive medical assistance.
Treatment of Acne
Acne treatments focus mainly on avoidance of the problems that lead to acne. Acne is manifested in different types such as white heads, black heads, pustule, papule, nodules and cyst. Basically all types of acne can be called as comedon, which is lesion formed because of the lesion of the clogged skin pore. The sebum, which is the natural moisturizer of the skin, is transported to the skin surface through the hair follicle. In certain conditions, the pores will become clogged and the resultant lesions are called acne. The clogging is supposed to be caused by several factors such as over-secretion of the sebaceous gland, abnormal increaseof keratocytes in the follicle lining, and inflammation by bacteria.
The conventional acne treatment products are available as both topical application and as oral medications. Many of the conventional medicines are available as over the counter medicines, which are effective in treating the milder forms of the condition. They are available in different forms such as lotions, creams, pads, gels and ointments. The commonly used over the counter medications include benzyl peroxide, resorcinol, salicylic acid and sulphur containing products.
